DIVISION OF TAX APPEALS
(click to view Commissioner Jenkins was born in Cambridge, Washington County, New York. After graduating high school, he joined the military and served until 1967. Mr. Jenkins graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1970, and earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1973 from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He returned to New York in 1974. In 1996, he was first nominated by Governor Pataki, and confirmed by the Senate, to serve as Commissioner of the Tax Appeals Tribunal. He was again nominated by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate in 2001. His present term will expire in December 2010. In addition to serving as Commissioner, Mr. Jenkins has earlier served as Special Legal Assistant to the New York State Commissioner of Corrections and Associate Minority Counsel to the New York State Assembly. Mr. Jenkins also served as a Litigation Attorney in the Office of Counsel of the Department of Taxation and Finance and Tax Law Judge in the Division of Tax Appeals. Mr. Jenkins was in private practice for several years in the City of Schenectady. Mr. Jenkins and his wife, Nancy, reside in Saratoga Springs. |
